Over the years we have been steadily adding the e-mail addresses of our members to our database to a
point that we can now contact almost one third of our people by e-mail. This is not only much less expensive, but
obviously a lot faster.
Unfortunately, we don't have e-mail addresses of all of our members that have this facility, so we are
hereby requesting that if you do have e-mail and think that we may not have it, please take a couple of minutes
We, of course, will continue mailing cards to those we cannot reach otherwise.

Chronic Wasting Disease
The following Statement has been prepared by the Indiana Deer Hunters Association, Inc. on behalf of its
members throughout Indiana in response to the increasing concerns and issues regarding Chronic Wasting
Disease (CWD) and the potential effect that this disease could have on the State of Indiana’s whitetail deer herd.
The ongoing concern and actions being taken by the Indiana State Board of Animal Health and the Department of
Natural Resources is greatly appreciated and recognized.  However, due to the potentially serious economical and
social impact CWD could have on both the whitetail deer herd and the Division of Fish and Wildlife, the Indiana
Deer Hunters Association, Inc. believes the following steps should be implemented immediately.
1.
Continued ban on all purchases and intra state transportation of cervids.
2.
Immediate ban on all purchase and use of semen for fertility purposes.
3.
Immediate implementation of a CWD testing program by DNR or State Board of Animal Health
officials for the upcoming and future deer seasons.
4.
Completion and distribution of an educational publication to be distributed throughout Indiana prior
to the upcoming deer hunting seasons.
5.
Organize a steering committee/task force of sporting organizations and various professionals to assist
in the immediate development of a comprehensive strategic and operational plan concerning CWD.
The Indiana Deer Hunters Association believes that the above recommendations should be viewed as merely a
start in addressing the issues and circumstances surrounding CWD.  Additional immediate consideration should
be given to other issues and unknowns regarding how CWD might be brought into Indiana by means other then
live transport of cervids.  It is further suggested that information be provided to hunters who intend to hunt
outside of Indiana this year and what precautions or considerations those individuals should consider before
bringing their harvests back to Indiana.  Lastly, the Indiana Deer Hunters Association hopes that any and all
actions taken by the DNR and the State Board of Animal Health are the most conservative and prevention
oriented actions possible.  This, we believe, will assure Indiana is protected and will assist in saving the State of
Indiana millions of dollars in the future and assure the well being of one of Indiana’s most magnificent natural
resources.
